For the D.A.R.E. program we had to write an essay on what I learned. Here is my essay:

D.A.R.E.

For the last few weeks being in the D.A.R.E. program with Deputy Thomas has taught me a lot. I now know D.A.R.E stands for drug abuse resistance education. I learned about drugs, cigarettes, beer, and there dangers.

In this program I learned that being under the influence of beer can not only hurt you but they can also hurt your friends, family, and the people around you. Being under the influence can cause you to do things and hurt people you would not normally do. You do not only do crazy things under the influence but drinking too much beer can lead you to a coma or even death. All of the things I have talked about lead to bad things. That is why I will not drink. We also got to wear the D.U.I. goggles. The goggles taught you what it was like from a drunk persons point of view.

Smoking is another thing we learned about in D.A.R.E. Cigarettes contain two hundred known poisons and is the number one cause of lung cancer. Like alcohol smoking can hurt non smokers too. This is called second-hand smoke. Smoking can cause yellow teeth and bad breath. These are all the reasons why I will not smoke.

I do not know all the goals I want in life but I do know I want a good job. If I drink, smoke, and do drugs I will not reach my goals and lead a good life. So I Kasi Robinson pledge not to do drugs, smoke, or drink.

Integrity

We just finished the book Freak The Mighty in the Reading Workshop. So today on the Reading Workshop Blog we had to comment about integrity and if sixth graders have integrity. This is what I had to say.

I think integrity matters to a sixth grader. If I don’t have integrity when I am a kid I am going to grow up thinking it is okay to lie and steal. But it is not okay. If you think steeling is fine then you need to stop and think about what you do and say. If I have integrity when I am a kid I will grow up being a person someone can trust.

If you compare Kevin’s integrity to mine I think they would be similar and different. They would be different because I would not lie about getting a new body. Kevin and me are similar because I know lying is not good and I believe Kevin did not lie to hurt Max. I think Kevin knew lying is wrong.

Yes, integrity guides how I live my life. If I have good integrity I will live a great life.

The Revealers

In the Reading Workshop we are reading the book The revealers. In the book a boy named Russell is getting bullied by an older kid named Richie so if you were Russell what would you do? This is what I had to say:

If I was in Russell’s position I would stay away from Richie as much as possible. If I ran into him I would be nice to him and not say anything bad about him. If I am nice to him he may not punch me or anything.

If I was in Russell’s position I would also try to get a ride to school and a ride home from school. If Richie did not stop being mean to me I would tell the principal,a teacher, or my parents. This is what I would do if I was in Russell’s position.

My Destiny

In the Reading Workshop I was to comment about if I control my destiny and what I do to steer my life to success. This is all I had to say

I control my destiny most of the time. My parents sometimes try to help me when I have to make decisions but even if they know I will make the right choice they always tell me their opinion. Sometimes they know I will make the right choice and don’t tell me their opinion and let me control my destiny and make the right choice.

What I do to steer my life to success is doing my best ability to learn and make the right decisions. If I ever go through bad times and don’t do all of my ability I always have my family, teachers and friends to get me back on track so I can make the right decisions and control my destiny. As I make the right decisions in life now I can go to college, get a good job and live life to its fullest.

My Potential

I think my potential can be better, and watching this video made me think if I take my time and take one step at a time I can give my whole potential.

When I am taking my OAT test I will think of this video and Mr. McGuire and know that I can give my best. When doing my test I will go one step farther to do my best and know my score will show it.

So watching this video and reading about what I have to say what do you think your potential is? Are you doing your best to give all of your potential? Tell me what you think.

Chasing Yesterday #1 Awakening

What if you could not remember your past at all. You did not know your name, age, or even who your parents are. But the worst of all you don’t know why you can’t remember anything.

When a girl named J.D. wakes up and she is in a hospital she does not know who she is or why she is there. But when the doctor says she can leave the hospital they have to take her to Chester Center for Juvenile Services because they do not know who her parents are. While not remembering any thing, her mom shows up at the center five days later and J.D. does not even know who she is. Her mom wants to take J.D. back to her so called home. So what will happen when she returns home and has to start a new life not knowing anyone, not even her own mom?

Things Not Seen

Imagine waking up and not seeing yourself in the mirror. You are not blind, but your body has vanished. So what would you do? Would you go crazy?

In the book Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements a boy named Bobby wakes up, looks in the mirror and he is invisible. He does not believe his eyes at first but when he knows he really is invisible he… you will have to read the book to find out what happens to the invisible boy named Bobby.

Done At Last!!

I am finally done reading the Harry Potter series! I know if you look at the rest of my blog it is all mostly about the Harry Potter series, but now I can talk about some other books. I hope I can get lots of more good books to write about on my blog. So if you come and look at my blog later I may have a good book for you to read.

Kindness At Laurelville

When I watched this video about kindness I thought of someone. Her name is Heather.

Why I thought of Heather is because when a girl named Katie got stuck back in science class one day Heather carried Katie’s stuff to her locker for her. Heather did this for Katie with out her even asking her to.

What Keeps Me Reading

When I am reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows by J.K. Rowling there is one thing that keeps me reading. That is wondering if someone will be captured. This may sound a little crazy but when a dark wizard has tried to kill you for seventeen years I am sure you would want them to be captured and put in jail too.

In the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Harry and two of his friends did not finish their last year of school at Hogwarts. This is because when Dumbledore died he wanted Harry to capture Voldermort the dark wizard that has tried to kill Harry for seventeen years. So will Harry and his two friends capture Voldermort? This is what keeps me reading.
